About Me – The Mind Behind Somsol Studios

Hi there! I’m Steve — the hands, heart, and occasional paint-splattered hoodie behind Somsol Studios.

I started this blog to share my journey in the miniature painting world, where tiny models become canvases for creativity, storytelling, and sometimes, healing.

"Somsol" is short for Sombra y Sol — shadow and light in Spanish. That contrast reflects not just how I paint, but how I live: learning to find brightness in dark times, and beauty in the smallest details.

What I Do

I'm a painter, a 3D printer dabbler, and a student of the hobby. I don’t claim to be perfect or professional — I'm just passionate about improving and helping others do the same.

Whether you're a total beginner or chasing display-level quality, I hope you find something useful or inspiring here.

This blog will include:

  • Step-by-step tutorials

  • Painting techniques I’m learning

  • WIP logs and personal projects

  • Reflections on creativity, focus, and finding purpose through the hobby

Why It Matters

This hobby has helped me slow down, focus, and create something with my own hands. It’s more than just painting — it’s a way to express myself and stay grounded.

I believe there's room in this community for anyone willing to learn and grow.
